I replaced it and the replacement started exhibiting the same problem within a day. It didn't help. So I re-enabled all the devices. However, with the ethernet cable in the old USB-3 adapter I seem to get less dropped connections and it's easier to plus out and in again - and the added advantage that I don't lose the HDMI video when I plug out and in.
Looking forward to people with more experiences hopefully finding a solution! We're experiencing the same issue We have updated firmware on the dock and all laptops drivers. I put a call into Microsoft but only worked with first line and they concluded it was a hardware issue so I didn't pursue with them any further.
I find this interesting as the data streams in teams are UDP connectionless. My suspicion is the outbound streams fail for some reason, Teams then tries to re-establish them - needs to do a DNS lookup - which fails and then the call goes into it's reconnection attempts.
For me this happens on most Teams calls. I get about 2 minutes into the call. It starts with the recipient s not being able to hear me. I then disconnect the ethernet and reconnect and it picks it up again.
If I leave it, it never seems to connect to ethernet without intervention. The laptop is completely up to date with patches and has all the latest firmware on the machine and the dock. Hi Spice.. As for the link you found.. I don't really have the tools to confirm or deny that on my home network. A bit of a breakthrough for us Hopefully that will get them to a root cause that we can then action, in the meantime, our work around is the Ethernet adapter directly connected to the laptop a shame as it's more cables.
I saw the posts that it doesn't happen with Zoom Teams is quite a memory and CPU hog so that combined with the camera turned on would create quite a bit of power demand. High power draw combined with high bandwidth consumption seems to be the recipe for the drops. We don't have any power utility software but just looking at task manager shows both Teams and the camera as "Very High" on power. We have the exact same symptoms here with P53s machines. We've tried all the different Lenovo docks and even had the local lenovo service center replace motherboards under warranty, issue persists.
The service center is out of suggestions and Lenovo USA technical support is offering to take the machine s in for repair but I can't imagine there's any actual fix yet. Do you have any info regarding case numbers or something to that effect that I could use when calling Lenovo in order to make the wheel squeak a little louder?
